- I'm confused! I have access to a slip connection (i'm on it
- now), with all of the latest winsock compatible programs, and
- locally, I am on a Windows for Workgroups network (3.11).
-
- My goal is to provide access to users of the network, to the
- slip connection, through one modem, and then allow multiple
- users to telnet and ftp to various sites, from WFW 3.11. I'd
- like to be able to use MS Mail, as a source for writing messages
- and then have a gateway of sorts to send it outbound to the
- net, if that's even possible!?!?
-
- I've downloaded the Microsoft TCP/IP drivers, but they are
- huge! Conventional memory is down to 464K when fully loaded!
-
- Can anybody shed some light on all of this, and point me
- in the right direction to get this going? I've heard of PC-TCP.
- Is it Shareware, or commercial? Is it better than going
- through Lan Manager TCP/IP?
-
- I'm using WS_FTP (94.02.07), and it works Fantastic! Cudos to
- Mr. Junod fo that and WS_Mail, and WS_Ping! What a wonderful
- contribution to the PD!
-
- Sorry for the dumb questions! Please help! <g>
-
- Cheers!
- Eric
-
-
- p.s. does anybody know the correct FTP site for the Winsock
- VBX? I missed the posts on where it had been moved to. :(

- Subject: WinTalk Alternatives?
-
-
- Does anyone know of Talk or Chat programs which are Windows based and
- work with the Trumpet Winsock?
-
- I have tried WinTalk and but I can not get it to work.
-
- I get the following error message when I click on the smiley face WinTalk
- icon.
-
- gethostname()error
- couldn't get my hostname
- OK
-
- Of course this is "Not Ok" :-)
-
- It also crashes the Tcpman program.
-
- FTP, Telnet, Eudora, Mosaic and other programs work fine.
-
- My IP address is registered in the Sun
- DNS and the Sun DNS ip address is in the Trumpwsk.ini file.
-
- Note, I am using WFWG V3.11 and Trumpet V1.0 Alpha over SLIP.

- Subject: RE: PCEudora Manual ?
-
- Was it here I saw jmorphet@asys.com (John P. Morphet) ask on 4 Feb about the
- Eudora manual...?
-
- >Has anyone gone to the trouble of converting the MAC version of the PC Eudora
- >manual (ver 1.4) into something a PC can read.
-
- etc....to which I have seen no answer...so:
-
- The manual that I have is a Pagemaker document rather than Word. Extracted,
- it's 127 pages, something like 1.7MB. I don't have PM for dos, but I *could*
- put it on my machine for you to ftp, if you could find someone who did have
- the dos version of PM to try to convert it. Drop me an email note if you
- haven't found another solution and want to work something out.
